The NEET counselling process will likely start at the end of July or the first week of August. The counselling will be held in four rounds: Round 1, Round 2, mop-up Round, and Stray Vacancy Round. The candidates who have passed the 12th class with subjects Physics, Chemistry, Biology, and English and are qualified for the NEET exam 2025 are eligible for the NEET counselling rounds.
Furthermore, the counselling session is broadly divided into two categories: 15% for All India Quota and 85% for State Quota. Students can check their NEET 2025 counselling eligibility before registration so that they get admission to their desired medical college.

NEET UG 2025 Counselling Process (for 15% All India Quota)
The NEET UG Counselling process comprises steps such as registration, choice filling & locking, seat allotment, reporting and joining. The detailed steps of the NEET counselling process are as follows:
Step 1: Registration
- Visit the official website of the Medical Council Committee (MCC) at https://mcc.nic.in/ug-medical-counselling/.
- Look for the “NEET UG Counselling” tab on the webpage.
- Fill out the detailed registration form to attend the counselling session, including personal details, academic details and other important information.
- Make the payment of the registration after filling out the registration form of ₹ 1,700 for General/NRI candidates, ₹1,600 for Gen-EWS/OBC-NCL candidates, and ₹1,000 for SC/ST/PwD/Third Gender candidates.
- Review the details mentioned on the next page to verify them before the final submission.
- Submit the form. After registration, log out and log in again to move to the next step.
Step 2: Choice Filling
- After registration, fill out the college as per your preference for the MBBS and BDS programs from the list given on the website.
- You can fill in as many choices as you can, as there is no limit on the number of choices.
- Choose the college wisely, as you will get the seat as per your preference.
Step 3: Choice Locking
- After the choice selection, candidates are requested to go through the form as the choice preference cannot be changed once locked till the next round.
- Lock your choice to participate in the NEET counselling session.
Step 4: Rounds for NEET Counselling
Each round of NEET Counselling comprises the steps such as registration, choice filling, seat allocation, etc. The details of each round are given below:

Step 5: Seat Allotment for Rounds
The following things are considered for the seat allocation after choice filling in each round:
- NEET Rank
- Preferred choice
- Seat availability in your locked course and college
- Reservation policy
The seat allotment results will be available on the official website of MCC; therefore, students are requested to visit the website from time to time to check the results of seat allocation.
If a Seat is allotted:
- If you get the seat in your desired college and course, download the seat allotment letter.
- Upload the required documents in the given time frame.
- Report to the allotted college for physical document verification.
If a Seat is not allotted:
Wait for the next round of counselling or the stray vacant seat round.
Step 6: Upgradation
If you are allotted a seat in a college and want to upgrade the college, you can get the seat in a better college. This is possible only if the candidate gets the seat in round 1 or 2; it is not possible for the final vacant seat.
Step 7: Reporting
The candidates who get the seat in the desired college are required to report for the seat acceptance before the time mentioned in the allotment letter.
Download Allotment Letter: Download the acceptance letter issued by the MCC to confirm your admission.
Document Verification: The following documents will be required for the verification at the time of reporting:
- Admit card, Score card, Mark sheets, certificates.
- Proof of identity and date of birth
- Allotment letter
- Category certificate (if applicable)
- A copy of all the documents
